Akmal Hariri took up piano when he was 6 years old, and later on added classical guitar to his repertoire. In between Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, and getting ready for SPM (due in 2011), he likes to dabble on Maksim, Yann Tiersen and Yiruma.

Like many other trained classical guitarists and pianists - albeit one still learning his trade, he plays mainly from notes. However, he can also play by ear and the Malay songs that he plays are mainly transcribed and arranged by Akmal himself.He is also into writing his own music, and hopes that instrumental music, especially that of piano would be accepted as mainstream music in Malaysia.He recently performed a classical guitar number at the Associated Board of Royal School of Music's High Scorers' Concert in PJ in January 2011.
